The Orange Show isn't just a place to look, its a place to make and do. We offer year-round classes and workshops for children and adults interested in learning new skills, with an emphasis on the re-use of common materials. Our targeted Outreach Programs serve at-risk youth and children in schools where funding for the arts are limited or nonexistent, providing hands-on, collaborative programming that cultivates appreciation for the arts and celebrates each student's unique self-expression.

We celebrate the artist in everyone and foster and sense of belonging in our city.

We define, share, and celebrate the visionary art experience through programs and events that build community and encourage participation. The Houston Art Car Parade and the Houston Art Bike Festival are two of the largest free cultural events in our city, with more than 250,000 spectators and engaging 100+ classrooms each spring. We activate our properties with performances and installations by internationally-prominent visionaries and emerging local voices that attract diverse audiences of all ages.

Our year-round efforts maintaining nationally-recognized folk art environments in Houston's unforgiving climate is hard work! As they age, the Orange Show Monument, the Beer Can House, and Smither Park present unique challenges that we address through programs that combine the work of conservation professionals, artist facilitators, and community volunteers who work together to stabilize these artist-build environments for future generations to experience and enjoy.
